Of course, there are vegetarian restaurants, but you may not want to eat there every day.





So this time, I’d like to introduce you to some recommended restaurants in Kaohsiung where you can casually eat vegetables too!





If you want to eat vegetables in Kaohsiung, this is a must-see!

I’ve been on a working holiday in Kaohsiung for a year since February 2020. I am currently writing a blog based on that experience.

What is 食府烤肉飯泰式椒麻雞飯?

食府烤肉飯泰式椒麻雞飯 is a bento shop located between Meilidao and Shinyi elementary school stations.





The store feels like it has been around for more than 20 years from the way it is set up.





Local customers are the main customers, and tourists and foreigners don’t know much about this store.





The store’s sign, written in white letters on a red background, strangely arouses our appetite.





The restaurant’s most famous dish is the Thai-flavored fried chicken, which comes with rice and side dishes.





In fact, this dish was created by Taiwanese people and is not found in Thailand.





Please try this Kaohsiung dish that is loved by the citizens!

Inside the store

There are about seven sets of chairs and tables in the store, and the kitchen can be seen in the back.





The kitchen can be seen in the back. As in Taiwanese bento shops, you can eat in or take out.





In front of the store, there was a waitress serving customers.





If you want to eat in the restaurant, you can sit in any seat.





I always sat near the entrance where I could see the TV.

Recommended menu

You can choose from three cups of chicken rice, barbecued rice, etc., but I recommend the Thai-style chicken rice!





It looks like Taiwanese chicken rice, and is a refreshing dish served with a sour sauce.

How to order and what to look out for

After deciding what you want to eat, place your order at the counter in front of the restaurant.





Payment must be made in advance, and only cash is accepted.





Each dish comes with three free side dishes that you can choose from after ordering.





The side dishes change daily, so you’ll never get bored with your choices!

Taste of the dishes

We ordered the restaurant’s signature dish, the rice with fried chicken!





It’s reasonably priced at only NT$90.





From left to right: chicken rice with rice bran, fried Chinese cabbage, fried bitter melon, and mapo tofu.





The batter on the chicken rice was crispy and the sweet and sour sauce was absolutely delicious!





Unfortunately, all three of the side dishes were average in taste.





However, the side dishes are mostly vegetables, so you’re eating healthy!





In the picture, it looks like there are a lot of dishes, but in reality, I think the amount is not enough for men.





Please check when you go to the restaurant, but the container for serving white rice was small.





Women and small eaters, I think you can be satisfied, so please go!
