What is Shanxi Flavored Noodles?
This store is a stall located in Nanhua Night Market near Meili dao Station.
It’s privately owned and operated in Kaohsiung City, so you can only eat at this location.
I see a lot of these types of establishments in Taiwan, and you can find some outrageously good ones!
There is one shopping street before you get to the restaurant, but it is dangerous because there is quite a lot of motorcycle traffic.
I was almost hit by a motorcycle a couple of times, so please be careful…
If you’re looking for a different kind of beef noodle soup, this is the place to go.

The store look like
The store is a simple structure with no windows, which can be troublesome when it rains.
And the store is located in an open space outside, so it is hot in summer.
There are tables in front of and beside the kitchen, where you can sit freely.
An old couple was running the restaurant.
Price Structure
Noodles cost $65~95, which is quite reasonable compared to other beef rice noodles!
With $200, you can eat a full meal.
Which is very cheap since beef noodle soup generally costs more than $150 Taiwan dollars.
The restaurant’s recommended menu
Of course, the recommended menu is the beef noodle soup!
They also have homemade dumplings and soup.
The noodles here are sword cut noodles, so they are more satisfying than others.
They boil the noodles after receiving your order, so you get to eat them fresh!
How to order and points to note
You can order orally.
The man who owns the restaurant sometimes ignores your order, so you need to say it loud enough to be heard.
It is easier to order from a female waitress.
The bill is paid later and only cash is accepted.
Taste of the food
The food I ordered has arrived!
I ordered the beef rice noodles, you know.
It comes in large and small sizes, so I ordered a small one, but the portion was surprisingly large.
When I tried it, I found the noodles to be very springy and the beef to be very well seasoned!
The soup also has a gentle flavor and fills your stomach.
It also contains green onions and other green vegetables that give it a nice texture.
When I was there before, the customer next to me was eating the dumplings so well, I wanted to try them next time lol.
