Many people tend to focus on Taipei, but there are some chicken restaurants in Kaohsiung City that I would like to recommend.





During my study abroad experience, I carefully selected three restaurants that I especially want you to visit, so please take a look!





I am sure that you will find delicious food that will change your image of Kaohsiung.

I experienced a working holiday in Kaohsiung for one year from February 2020. Currently, I am writing a blog based on that experience.

What is the first chicken dish that comes to mind when you think of Taiwan?





I’m sure many of you will answer “Taiwanese Fried chicken.





However, there are many other dishes, so let’s take a look at some of them.

1 Chicken rice

Chicken rice is the most popular chicken dish made with chicken meat, and is eaten by many people.





Its taste and texture vary from restaurant to restaurant, but it is characterized by its low oil content.





For this reason, restaurants add flavor by pouring chicken oil over the dish when they serve it.





My impression is that there are many restaurants in the central to southern part of the country.

2 Fire chicken rice

This is a chicken rice dish made with turkey that is eaten at Christmas time, and its home is Chiayi in south-central Taiwan.





It is different from ordinary chicken rice in that the meat is thicker and has a more enjoyable texture, and the meat is slightly pink in color.





I didn’t know the difference when I first came to Taiwan, but a friend taught me.





If you want to taste the texture of chicken, this is the place to go!

3 Duck rice

This dish is made with duck meat. It is a little fatty, but you can feel the flavor of the duck meat.





You can find this dish at many food stalls, and sometimes in the city too!





I highly recommend this dish because the flavor of the meat and the rice go very well together.

3 of the best chicken dishes in Kaohsiung City!

I’ve carefully selected three of the best chicken dishes I found when I studied abroad!





I’m sure there are some lesser-known restaurants, so I’m going to give you a special introduction.

1 Hoye Chicken Rice

This is a Hainanese chicken rice restaurant located in the Sanduo shopping district.





It’s the only restaurant in Taiwan that’s located in Kaohsiung, and it serves authentic Malaysian chicken dishes!





The food is cheap and delicious, so I highly recommend it.

2 Da Yuen Huan Chicken Rice

This chicken rice restaurant is only 30 seconds away from Meilidao Station.





The restaurant has been around for over 30 years, and many people come here to eat every time!





The restaurant has a fast turnover, so it is a good place to go if you want to eat in a short time.

3 Jinbaoling Exhaust Bone King

This restaurant is a chicken exhaust rice restaurant located about 5 minutes away from Meilidao Station.





With crispy fried chicken and a choice of three side dishes, you’ll be very full!





The portions are quite large, so it’s best to go with an empty stomach.
