Hello everyone. I’m @olivertomolife and I’ve studied abroad in Kaohsiung!
Did you know that there are only three places in Kaohsiung, Taiwan where you can get a great barbecue bowl?
There are only three places in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, where you can get a great barbecue bowl, and I’ve been so impressed with this place that I’ve been going there every week after language school ever since I found it.
This time, I’m going to introduce you to the most delicious Jing kou Restaurant!
Don’t miss it, especially if you are planning to go to Wenzao University.
I experienced a working holiday in Kaohsiung for a year from February 2020. Currently, I am writing a blog based on that experience.
By reading this article, you’ll get the best Japanese food in Kaohsiung!
What is Jing kou Restaurant?
Jing kou Shitang is a donburi (rice bowl) restaurant with three locations in Kaohsiung.
The one I’m going to introduce here is the Wenmo University branch, which seems to be the main branch.
It is about a 10-minute bus ride from the Dome station.
The meat is grilled over charcoal outside the restaurant, and the savory taste is popular among students.
The restaurant fills up quickly at lunchtime, so it is best to get there early to eat.
It’s very tasty, so go for it!
Atmosphere of the store
There are single rows of tables lined up against the wall and tables that can seat multiple people.
Seating is free, so be sure to reserve ahead of time.
Trendy music is playing in the restaurant.
Tableware is self-service, and there is free miso soup.
I recommend the Yakiniku bowl!
There are also fried chicken rice bowls and teriyaki chicken rice bowls.
There are a few side dishes.
How to Order and Points to Note
There is an order form and a pen near the entrance, so take it!
After you finish writing on the order form, hand it to the waitress outside.
Don’t forget to show your wenzao student ID when you pay which you can get discount!
Taste of the food
I ordered a bowl of grilled meat!
The ingredients are grilled meat, homemade egg, Taiwanese kimchi, and onions on top.
I wasn’t expecting much, but it tastes just as good as it does in Japan!
The barbecued meat is cooked over charcoal, which makes it very fragrant and delicious.
The eggs are also very flavorful and delicious.
The kimchi at this restaurant is not too sour, which is unique to Taiwan, so I can personally accept it!
I think it is a suitable place for lunch.
- Yakiniku donburi is delicious with a taste similar to that of Japan.
- If you are a student, you can get a discount, so I recommend it!
- If you are in Kaohsiung, you should eat this delicious food at least once!
This is my introduction to Jing kou Restaurant!
I’ll be posting more information about Taiwan in the future, so stay tuned!
