In Kaohsiung, located in the southern part of Taiwan, there are many restaurants that serve al dente-doughy rice, but I have found one.





The one I’m going to introduce this time, Jintian Pork fat Rice, is famous for its cheap and tasty food near the train station!





In fact, I have fond memories of going there many times during my study abroad, and I would like to recommend it, so I will introduce it to you.

I experienced a working holiday in Kaohsiung for a year from February 2020. Currently, I am writing a blog based on that experience.

What is Jintian Pork fat Rice?

Jintian Pork fat Rice is a historical restaurant located in Xinyi Guoxiao, Kaohsiung.





This restaurant is open from 4:30 in the morning, making it a popular place for breakfast.





Since there is a business district nearby, it is crowded with office workers during lunch.





The gently flavored doughy rice is cheap and delicious, so why not try it?

How to get to the store

The store is very convenient and is located right outside Exit 3 of Xinyi Guoxiao Station.





Walk out of the station and take the road on the left, where there is a gas station, and you will be at the restaurant in about 30 seconds!

From the outside, the restaurant has a historic appearance, and I felt as if it was supporting the history of Kaohsiung together with the local people.





The menu is posted on the wall inside the restaurant, and there are tables and chairs, so make sure you get a seat first.

Recommended menu

As the name of the restaurant suggests, I recommend the dried pork rice!





There are also other dishes such as chicken rice and vegetables.





Many of the customers also ordered soup.

How to order and points to note

You can order orally, pay in advance, and use Chinese only.





Don’t worry, even my poor Chinese was understood!





It’s always crowded, so it’s a good idea to decide on the menu ahead of time.





Only cash is accepted as payment.

Taste of the food

I ordered the meat and rice, egg, and tofu!





Wow, this was only $45 Taiwan dollars.





Restaurants in Kaohsiung are really cheap, so I can’t thank them enough!





When I tried it, I found that the dried rice had a good flavor and was not too rich.





However, the portions are too small for men, so I would recommend ordering other dishes.
