I think the most difficult thing to decide is which school to choose.





I myself was wondering if I should go to Taipei, but I chose Wenzao University of Foreign Languages in Kaohsiung.





In this article, I’m going to explain why I recommend Wenmo University of Foreign Languages with 5 reasons!

5 Reasons why Wenzao University of Foreign Languages is a good choice for language study abroad

Here are five reasons why I recommend Wenzao University of Foreign Languages for language study.

1 Friendly administrative staff

I personally applied to this school, and the staff was very kind.





The application can be done via email, and they gave me clear instructions on how to enroll.





The response time was very quick, and it took about four weeks to complete the process.





It was the first time for me to go through the process on my own, but I was able to complete it with the help of the staff.

2 High quality of classes

Wenzao University of Foreign Languages is the only university in Taiwan that specializes in foreign languages, so the level of instructors is high.





Of course, instructors have different ways of teaching and conducting classes, but since the classes are student-centered, I was able to learn in a systematic way.





As a learner, I also appreciated the environment where I could immediately ask questions if I had any doubts.





Even those who are learning Chinese for the first time can study at ease!

3 Many students are serious

As a famous university in Kaohsiung, there are many serious students who study Chinese.





I recommend it because you can learn while doing your best in class and having fun.





There were some difficult classes, but the classes were well designed and easy to understand.





There are students in the class who make the place relaxed, so you can enjoy learning.

4 Small class sizes

In general, many schools have classes with more than 10 students, but this school has classes with less than 10 students, so you have a chance to speak up every time.





You never know when the instructor will ask you a question, which makes you feel tense, but it also allows you to input and output a lot, so I was able to improve quickly.





If I make a mistake in my answer, the instructor will help me, so I can always challenge myself.

5 Class design according to level

When you enter the school, you will be given a placement test to determine your level of English, and then you can take classes according to your level.





If a class is too difficult or too easy, you can change it within the first week.





I felt that the classes I entered in the placement test were difficult at first, but I got used to them as the days went by, so I realized that the test is highly accurate.

Wenzao University of Foreign Languages was established in Kaohsiung in 1966 and used to be a women’s university offering English, French, German, and Spanish.





Since 1990, the university has been co-educational and has a Japanese language department.





The Chinese Language Center for students of Chinese was established in 2002, and international students from all over the world are studying there.





When I was studying there, the student ratio was mostly from Vietnam and Indonesia, with some students from the US and Japan.

Courses

There are four different courses, with the regular course being the most major.





It costs NT$28050 for 11 weeks, with a registration fee of NT$20 if you are from overseas and NT$500 if you are from Taiwan.

Advantages and disadvantages of studying at Wenzhou University of Foreign Languages

Advantages 1 You can study while keeping living expenses low

Wenzao University is less expensive than other universities in Taipei.





This means that you can study while working part-time on a working holiday or studying abroad.





There are many restaurants near the school, so I could easily have a meal after class.





This is a good option if you want to save some money on your study abroad expenses.

2 The school has its own scholarship system

Wenzao University has its own scholarship system, where students with excellent grades for one term will receive $3000 Taiwan dollars, and students with excellent attendance will receive $1000 Taiwan dollars.





You need to be one of the top three students in each, but if you’re diligent you can win a prize, so go for it!

3 There is a system where you can learn Chinese from current university students

This school offers the service of tutoring by current students.





You need to apply for this service at the reception desk during the designated period, but you will be taught Chinese at a fixed time every week.





You can feel free to ask questions about what you don’t understand in class, so it’s a good idea to take advantage of this service.

Disadvantages 1 Poor accessibility

Wenzao University is located outside of Kaohsiung City.





Therefore, if you cannot ride a motorcycle, you will have to take a bus or live nearby.





Traffic near the school is poor, so taking the bus to school is recommended.





Buses are infrequent and the times are not precise, so it is recommended to get to the bus stop early.

2 Textbooks are not included in the tuition

You have to pay for tuition and textbooks separately.





Therefore, bring cash or a credit card with you when you enroll.





The textbooks are rich in content, so they are worth the price.

3 Class progress changes depending on the instructor.

Classes are taught by two instructors over the course of five days.





There are different instructors for the three days starting Monday and from Thursday to Friday, so you can take classes from a variety of instructors.





However, there are times when one instructor’s teaching style does not match the other’s, so it is best to be prepared for this.
