Hello everyone! I’m @olivertomolife and I just got back from studying abroad in Kaohsiung!
Here’s a quick question for you all!
What kind of image do you have when you hear the word “Argentine cuisine”?
Yes, there are a lot of dishes where meat is the main ingredient!
There are some yakiniku restaurants in Kaohsiung, but I recommend this one because it serves thick meat.
Let me introduce you to the restaurant!
I’ve been on a working holiday in Kaohsiung for a year since 2020. I’m currently writing a blog based on that experience.
By reading this post, you’ll get to know about Argentine food in Kaohsiung!
What is Argentine cuisine?
It is a cuisine influenced by Spain and Italy, where there are many immigrants, and many of the dishes are made with beef.
The average per capita beef consumption in 2007 was 67 kg!
Asado, a dish in which meat is grilled over charcoal, is famous, and various types of meat are grilled and eaten.
You can enjoy sausages and red meat.
They also have a lot of empanadas, which are like bread, and pizza in their diet!
Since there are many Italian immigrants, I am sure the pizza is delicious as well.
Characteristics of the cuisine
The cuisine is characterized by many meat dishes and few vegetable dishes.
In order to make up for this, they drink yerba mate tea to make up for the lack of vegetables.
Yerba Mate is a tea made from the leaves and branches of the Yerba Mate plant, and is rich in vitamins and minerals.
I found it very bitter the first time I drank it, but I got used to it after a few times, lol.
It is said that this tea goes well with meat dishes.
What is Cow On Fire, Argentine Beef?
Cow On Fire, Argentine Beef is an all-you-can-eat meat restaurant located in the Mei li dao area of Kaohsiung.
It is conveniently located from the train station, which is great for convenience.

The restaurant is open from noon, but it tends to get full in the evening, so be careful.
It’s a great place to go if you’re looking for a full meal!
Exterior of the restaurant
We were greeted by red letters and a cow design on a black background.
It has a luxurious appearance.
I think it’s a good place to go with friends or a special someone because of the great atmosphere at night.
If the restaurant is full, there are chairs outside for you to sit on.
The inside of the restaurant
When you enter the restaurant, you can feel the calm atmosphere of the slightly darkened interior.
There are more than enough seats at the entrance and the back.
In the front, there is a corner for drinks and soups.

I would like to recommend the beef!
The beef is from Argentina, and is grilled on the spot and brought to you, so it has a fresh taste.
There is also a wide variety of pork, chicken, and seafood on the menu.
