What is Hakata Tempura Yamami?
Hakata Tempura Yamami is a restaurant in Fukuoka, Japan, run by a company that produces mentaiko (spicy cod roe).
There are three restaurants in Taiwan, two in Taipei and one in Kaohsiung.
One of the features of this restaurant is that when you order a set meal, you get a free refill of mentaiko, takana, and rice!
It’s a great service when you want to eat a lot!
The Kaohsiung branch is conveniently located in a department store in Dome.

Atmosphere of the store
The restaurant is located on the fourth floor of the Hanshin Department Store, among a variety of other restaurants.
I have the impression that this restaurant is one of the most popular Japanese restaurants.
At noon, there is a long queue, so if you go when the restaurant opens or stagger your time, you can get in quickly.
When you enter the restaurant, you can watch the staff frying the tempura.
Recommended menu
The tempura set meal, Yamami Teishoku, is the most recommended!
Other options include tendon and salad.
How to Order and Points to Note
Place your order with the waitress.
The bill is to be paid later and a 10% service charge will be applied.
Card payment was accepted.
Taste of the food
The food I ordered has arrived!
I ordered the Yamami teishoku, which cost $290 Taiwan Dollars.
There were vegetables, eggs, and shrimp tempura.
It also came with rice and miso soup.
The staff brought the mentaiko (spicy cod roe) and the takana (Chinese cabbage) first, so you can refill them when they run out.
I tried it right away, and the flavors of the tempura and the ingredients are just fantastic!
And the mentaiko and rice go great together!
I never thought I would be able to taste Japan’s famous mentaiko in Taiwan…
I’ve never had egg tempura before, but the inside was soft and the outside was crispy and delicious.
It’s more expensive than Taiwanese food, but it can be very satisfying, so I recommend it!
