Just from my research, there are more than 20 restaurants in Kaohsiung, and I can confirm that this is a dish that is loved by the citizens.





Among them, I’m going to carefully select three chicken rice restaurants that I’d like to recommend to you!





All of the restaurants are cheap and delicious, so you should be able to have a satisfying meal.

Three chicken rice dishes you must try in Kaohsiung!

Here is a list of the best chicken rice in Kaohsiung that I have found through my study abroad experience.

1 Da Yuen Huan Chicken Rice

This store has been in business for more than 30 years on Kaohsiung’s Meilidao, selling mainly chicken rice and dried rice.





Located only a 1-second walk from the station, its convenience has made it a favorite among many people.





It is my personal favorite restaurant and I have often introduced it to my friends as a place I can recommend.





The shredded chicken and the tasty shoyu-flavored broth make for the best rice ever!





The chicken rice is as cheap as $45 Taiwan dollars for a large serving, so it is also recommended for those who want to eat a lot.

2 Yi Sheng Fire Chicken Rice

This restaurant is located in Kaohsiung’s Sanduo shopping district and serves chicken rice with turkey.





Unlike most chicken rice, the turkey meat is thicker and more flavorful!





Turkeys are associated with Christmas, but in Taiwan, they are eaten on a daily basis.





The chicken rice at this restaurant is a large portion, so it is recommended for those who want to eat a lot.

3 荘脚囝仔火鶏肉飯七賢店

This store is located about seven minutes away from the Meilidao station in Kaohsiung, along the road.





This restaurant mainly serves lunch boxes, so many customers take their food to go.





The chicken is cut into large pieces, which gives it a great texture and taste!





It seems that most of the customers are locals and not so well known to foreigners.





The portions are just right for lunch, so be sure to try it!

What is Chicken Rice?

Chicken rice is a Taiwanese dish in which boiled chicken meat is placed on a bed of rice and topped with a sauce of spices and soy sauce.





It is prepared differently depending on the restaurant, and is chopped into thin strips before being placed on the rice.





In many cases, chicken oil is used at the time of serving to add flavor.





In Taiwan, Chiayi’s fire chicken rice is the most famous, and there are more than 100 restaurants in the area.

Calories in Chicken Rice

It varies depending on the cooking method and seasoning, but generally speaking, chicken rice has more than 400kl.





Since it is made with chicken meat, it may seem healthy, but the broth and oil used have a large calorie content.
