What is English Grammar in use for learning English?

But then I came across this book, and my English skills got an extra boost!




Now, let me introduce the appeal of this book.

What is English Grammar in Use?

This book is written by an authoritative English teacher named Raymond Murphy, and it is a world-famous book.




It is published by Cambridge University in England, and is often used by English learners all over the world.




If you master this book perfectly, you will be able to cope with advanced English.




In Japan, you may not hear much about it, but if you want to improve your English one step ahead of others, this is the perfect book for you.




It’s a bit of a pricey reference book, but it’s more than worth it because of its rich content!

Three appeals of the book

I’m sure there are some people who want to know what the book is about, so I’ll introduce some of the book’s attractions, along with its contents.

1 Plenty of lessons

One of the most attractive features of this book is the abundance of grammar lessons.




There are more than 300 pages of problems alone, making this a book that is worth studying.




The difficulty level of the first lesson is easy, but it gets more difficult as you go through the problems.

I especially recommend the lessons on quantifiers, which can be a stumbling block in learning English, because the explanations are easy to understand.

2 Learn English in detail

You can also learn phrasal verbs, which are not commonly studied.




There are many types of these verbs, and you will need to memorize them, but you can learn them through practice!




Native speakers often use phrasal verbs unconsciously, so if you can learn to use them, you will be able to take your English to the next level.

It depends on the book, but I do not recommend books that have questions and answers on the same page.




This is because if you don’t understand something, you can immediately check the answer.




The important thing in studying a language is to think, so it is better to have the answers on a separate page.




In this book, the answers are on a different page, so you can concentrate on the problem.




However, the answers are not explained, so you need to figure out why you made a mistake by yourself.

What is the Cambridge exam?

Finally, let me explain about the Cambridge exam.




It is an English language test conducted by the University of Cambridge in UK.




The most attractive thing about this exam is that it is recognized all over the world.




There are other certification tests that are not accepted in other countries or have a short validity.




However, the Cambridge exam is permanent, so you can use it even after 10 years have passed!




When I was at a language school before, I was told that this is the recommended certification for acquiring English for daily use.
