Chicken rice is famous in Singapore and Malaysia, but there’s actually a great restaurant in Kaohsiung too!
This restaurant is located in Sanduo Shopping District, and you can enjoy authentic Malaysian cuisine.
It is actually the only one of its kind in Kaohsiung, so it is one of the places to look out for.

I have been on a working holiday in Kaohsiung for one year since February 2020. Currently, I am writing a blog based on that experience.

About Hoya Chicken Rice
This Malaysian restaurant has nine locations in Kaohsiung, and is unique in that it is the only one in Kaohsiung in Taiwan.
The one I went to is located near the Xingzhong Night Market in the Sanduo Shopping District, making it the perfect place for a stroll!
The store is also very impressive, with a beautiful design that makes you want to go inside!

Appearance of the store
The white sign with black letters is simple but easy to read.
It is hard to see from the picture, but it looks like a newly opened restaurant.
There is a window at the entrance where you can see the store.
The inside of the restaurant
After entering the restaurant and confirming the number of people in restaurant, you will be asked to take a seat freely.
Near the entrance is the checkout counter and the kitchen, where you can watch the food being prepared.
Each table and chair is white with wood grain wallpaper, making you feel at home.
Recommended menu
The restaurant’s signature dish, Hainanese chicken rice, is the best choice!
Other soups and noodles are also available.
How to Order and Points to Note
There is an order form at your table, so write it down and hand it to the waiter.
The bill is paid in advance and only cash is accepted.
When you finish paying, you will be given a number slip, so check your number and go get your food.
Taste of the food
I ordered the recommended Hainanese chicken rice!
The cost was $90 Taiwan dollars.
You can pick up the dishes yourself when you get your food!
The rice is served with chicken, cucumbers, tomatoes, and scallions.
The chicken is tender and easy to eat.
However, men may feel that the portion is too small, so it is better to order soup.
I was very satisfied with the refreshing taste!
