Top 5 Frustrations of Traveling in Sydney

Sydney annoying situation

I would like to introduce a ranking of the things that I found unsatisfactory in my Sydney travel experience.

No. 5: Toilets are scarce

The first thing I felt was that there were not many toilets in the city.

So when you do eat or take a break, you’d better go to the bathroom so you can sightsee better!

In Australia, where a variety of immigrants live, there are cases where people use them badly or vandalize them, so I think they dare to keep them few.

Also, keep in mind that toilets at train stations are often not very clean.

If you want to use clean toilets in Sydney, you should go to Myer or David Jones.

No. 4 Unfriendly staff on the subway from the airport

You can take the subway from Sydney International Airport to the city.

I had an experience where the staff was unfriendly to me.

I bought the wrong ticket, and when I asked if I could get a refund, I was told in a high-handed manner that I could not.

I felt very uncomfortable and annoyed, and my impression of Sydney Transport became the worst after that.

Keep in mind that there are some people with good attitude but there are also people with bad attitude.

No. 3 Prices are high and the food is not good in some places

Sydney is known to be one of the most expensive places in Australia.

Therefore, you will be paying a relatively high price for eating out.

In fact, I have often experienced that the restaurants I went to with high expectations were not tasty.

To prevent this from happening, you can avoid the risk by checking the restaurant’s reputation beforehand.

No. 2 Possibility of encountering creepy people in the city

One of the things that surprised me when I was traveling was that there were people who suddenly made strange noises in the streets.

Drugs are banned in Australia, but some people do it in secret.

Therefore, if you see such a person, never make eye contact with them.

If you encounter them, move to another place with a sense of normalcy.

Do not be amused and do not provoke them.

No. 1: Products in tourist spots are expensive

The thing that shocked me the most was the amount of money spent on souvenirs at tourist attractions.

I had expected them to be a little higher than the average price in Japan.

However, it was about twice as expensive and I had no desire to buy it.

I already knew a place where I could easily buy souvenirs, so I decided to go there and buy them.

In my opinion, it is not recommended to buy souvenirs at tourist spots.

Below are some of the best souvenir stores in Sydney, so please refer to them.

Summary

Australia Sydney
  1. Toilets are scarce.
  2. Staff on the subway from the airport are unfriendly.
  3. Prices are high and the food is not good in some places.
