Hello everyone. I’m @olivertomolife and I’ve studied abroad in Sydney!
Here’s a quick question for you.
When you think of Sydney, what kind of place do you imagine?
Most people probably think of the Opera House first, right?
In fact, the Opera House is one of the most famous modern buildings of the 20th century and was registered as a World Heritage Site in 2007.
It is also famous as a place where many tourists from all over the world come to see its beautiful white design that looks like a seashell.
Let’s take a look at the features and events of the Opera House.
Studied abroad in Sydney for a year starting in 2018. I am currently writing a blog based on that experience.
By reading this post, you’ll get to know the Opera House!
If you are looking for a share house in Australia, I also recommend the following article.
What is the Opera House?
The Opera House was built in 1973, making it the most recent World Heritage building in the world.
It was designed by a Danish architect out of more than 200 submissions from around the world.
The building was completed in 1973 after three stages of extensive construction.
Inside, there is a concert hall with excellent acoustics, where concerts are held on a regular basis.
It’s one of Sydney’s most iconic places, so make sure you go!
Three features of the Opera House
I’m sure many people are wondering what makes the Opera House special, so I’ve come up with my own list of features!
1 Easy access
It’s great that the Opera House is easily accessible from Circular Quay Station.
I didn’t know how far it was until I actually went there.
However, when I went there, I felt that it was an easily accessible tourist attraction.
Even in famous tourist spots, the location can be bad, so you want to go to a place that is as convenient as possible, right?
In that aspect, the Opera House is in a good location, making it a good place for sightseeing.
2 The building is unique
The Opera House has a unique shape that attracts people from all over the world, but there is a reason why it took this shape.
It would be too long to talk about here, so why don’t you take a paid tour of the inside?
You will be able to understand the Opera House through videos and explanations.
I think it’s worth it, because you get a special look into spaces you wouldn’t normally be able to enter!
3 It’s quite famous
First of all, many people think of the Opera House when they hear the word “Australia.
So why is it so famous?
I’ve come up with my own theory.
My hypothesis is that the reason may be that they have a good way of advertising.
For example, if they don’t advertise well, I don’t think anyone will ever know about them like in my article.
On the other hand, if you are good at advertising, you can bring in a lot of people, right?
Stores around
There are souvenir shops, cafes, restaurants, and dessert stores.
There is a hamburger store in front of the station, but I don’t like it because there are many annoying birds.
Most of the places are expensive because they are tourist spots.
I haven’t eaten much in the area, but the Italian restaurant was good.
Recommended points
The scenery changes with the seasons, so you will never get bored.
For example, in the fall, there is a festival called “vivid,” which is a lighting event that attracts a lot of people.
Various patterns and pictures are projected on the Opera House, which is very fantastic and beautiful, so be sure to attend!
Participation is free and there are other stalls to enjoy.
There is also a large garden botanical park nearby, which is good for refreshing your mind.
Conclusion
- A famous tourist attraction in Sydney
- You should join Vivid.
- Easy access from the station
I’ve just summarized the features of the Opera House!
Please stay tuned for more information about Australia in the future.
Thank you for reading to the end!
