Is the environment for finding a place to live different in Japan and Taiwan?

apartment

In Japan, people often look for a room through real estate agencies, but in Taiwan, people often use apps to decide.

I think this is partly due to the fact that there are fewer real estate agencies in Taiwan than in Japan.

Also, in Japan, many rooms are not fully furnished, but in Taiwan, I have the impression that many rooms are fully furnished.

Contracts are also simpler in Taiwan than in Japan, which can be said to be a characteristic.

What are the three ways to find a room?

apartment

Let’s take a look at the three ways to find a room, in order of recommendation.

1 Using an app to find a room

This is the most mainstream method and there are three famous websites.

Each of them is available only in Chinese.

Be sure to select “屋主” when searching!

If something goes wrong with the property, the response may be slow in other cases.

1 591房屋交易網

This is the most famous property app in Taiwan, and you can find a lot of rooms.

I was also able to find a property using this app.

It is also convenient to check the type of property on the map.

2 Rakya.net

This is another famous property site in Taiwan, where you can search for a variety of properties.

You can even find properties that are not available on other sites!

It’s also convenient that the site is easy to read.

3 好房子

The main feature of this site is that you can search for properties by train line.

You can also search on other sites, but I think this one is more accurate.

The design of the site is also easy to read, so it’s easy to use.

2 How to search using Facebook groups

Since many people in Taiwan use Facebook, you can also search for property information.

You can find many groups by searching for “台灣 找房子” in the app.

One thing to keep in mind is to join a group with a large number of people.

Groups with a small number of people do not have much information about properties, so you may not be able to find anything very good, so be careful.

3 Using a real estate agency to search

If you are looking for a place to live, especially in Taipei, there are some real estate agencies that cater to Japanese people, so it is a good idea to consult with them.

Typical companies include Able, TaiwanRent.com, and XinyiFangwu.

Each of these companies is easy to use, so it’s best to check out their websites.

What should I pay attention to on the day of the tour?

caution

1 On the day of the inspection, try to have more than one person with you.

The reason for this is that some owners are malicious.

They may tie you to an expensive contract, so be sure to invite a friend or someone as evidence.

2 Check if there is a garbage station

In many cases in Taiwan, you will need to take out the garbage yourself.

Some properties may have a garbage station, so make sure to check.

Conclusion

Taiwan
  • It is recommended to look for a property one week before you plan to rent.
  • Visit with more than one person.
  • It is smooth to learn a minimum of Chinese.

This is a summary of the room search in Taiwan!

We will continue to provide information on Taiwan in the future, so please stay tuned.

Thank you for reading to the end!
