Hello everyone. This is Olivertomo!
One of the most famous animals in Australia is the koala, right?
There’s a place in Sydney where you can easily meet koalas!
I’d like to introduce Wildlife Sydney Zoo, which is only 10 minutes away from Sydney city.
I experienced studying abroad in Sydney for a year starting in 2018. Now I am writing a blog about that experience.
By reading this post, you’ll get to know about zoos and koalas!
What is Wildlife Sydney Zoo?
Wildlife Sydney Zoo is an indoor zoo that opened in Darling Harbour in 2006, where you can see animals in their natural state.
It’s divided into nine areas, where you can see all sorts of animals!
You will definitely be able to see some rare animals that only live in Australia.
What is a koala?
The koala is a vertebrate, marsupial animal classified in the family Koalaidae.
Their body color is characterized by a gray back and a white abdomen.
They are found in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia in Australia.
The koala population had been declining for a while, but the decline has been controlled by the activities of conservation groups.
Koalas tend to be solitary animals and are often found in trees.
They rarely come down to the ground, but sometimes they do when moving through the trees.
Their natural enemies are hawks and other birds of prey, and they are sometimes attacked by foxes and stray dogs when they get off the ground.
They are herbivores and eat eucalyptus leaves and other plants as their staple food.
Eucalyptus leaves are poisonous, but koalas digest and absorb the toxins by breaking them down.
