I’ll also introduce Greenwich English College, where I went.

I studied abroad in Sydney for a year starting in 2018. Now I am writing a blog about my experience.

What are the 3 tips for choosing a language school?

1 Check the school size and know the class size.

I think it’s important to know the size of the language school.





It varies from person to person, but it is a good idea to think about whether you want to learn in a lively environment or in a small group.





If you want to have fun while making friends and learning English, a large school is recommended.





If you want to concentrate on improving your language skills, a small school is recommended.





The school brochure that you can get from the agent will show you the approximate number of students, so have a look.

2 Check the school’s information on the website

Although the information in the brochure is detailed, you may be able to get more detailed information by visiting the school’s website.





You can learn about the school’s facilities and services.





Each school also offers discounts and other promotions, so make sure you don’t miss them.

3 Use word of mouth to get real opinions

It is good to talk to agents, but it is also helpful to get information from people who have studied at each school.





You can learn even more about a school from their actual experiences!





You can get a lot of information by looking up the school’s name and rating online, so please do that.

What is Greenwich English College?

Greenwich English College is a language school located in the heart of Sydney’s Town Hall and Central Station.





There’s a shopping mall and restaurants nearby, so it’s very convenient!





It is a language school created by a group of English teachers, so you can take high quality classes.






There are many students from various countries, so it is recommended for those who want to have international exchange!

Why I recommend Greenwich and my experience

1 Course

There are five main types of courses, each of which is of high quality.





You can choose from General English, Sound Repellent, Cambridge Exam Preparation, IELTS Preparation, and Business English.





Among them, I studied General English, Cambridge Exam Preparation, and IELTS Preparation.





I’ll explain them in order.





First. General English, as the name suggests, starts with basic conversation.





On the first day of school, you will take a placement test and start learning.





If the level is too difficult or too easy, you can change it.





In my case, I started at the second lowest pre-intermediate level.





It is recommended for those who want to learn without stress since the study focuses on daily life.





Next is the Cambridge exam preparation course.





I personally enjoyed this course the most because I was able to study reading, writing, speaking, and listening all equally.





As the name suggests, we studied questions for the Cambridge exam, but there was a lot of English that we could use in our daily lives, so it was fun to study.





I highly recommend this course because it will help you improve your English much faster than the General English course.





Next was the IELTS course, which was the most boring course.





Originally I was going to take a different course, but I couldn’t choose, so I took this course for a short time.





The content of the course was very rigorous as we had to practice past papers.





The course was very rigorous, and people who were aiming to enter universities in Australia were taking the classes.





I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to enter a university in Australia.

2 The location of the school is good

The school is located in the middle of Town Hall and Central Station, which is very accessible.





It’s only about five minutes away from both stations, so it’s very convenient!





There are supermarkets and restaurants nearby, so you don’t have to worry.





By the way, the school is in a building and there is a Korean restaurant on the first floor.





I would recommend going a little early on the first day of school to get used to the place.

3 Good overall service

The people at the reception are very friendly and will help you with your course and procedures.





There are also multilingual staff, so if you’ve just arrived and are worried about your English, don’t worry.





There are events every month, so if you want to participate, just go to the reception and sign up!





There are also learning counselors, so if you have any problems, you can ask them for help.
