History of the Gold Coast

Gold coast

The Gold Coast has been inhabited by indigenous people for more than 20,000 years, but by 1800, European settlement was underway.

Many villas were built and the Gold Coast became a resort for the upper class living in Brisbane.

With the construction of railroads and hotels, the development of the Surfers Paradise area proceeded at a rapid pace, and in the 1960s, an airport was opened.

From the 1980’s, the area became more recognized in Australia and real estate investments were actively made.

As a result, the Gold Coast has a high concentration of high-rise buildings.

Getting to the Gold Coast

Gold coast access

There are three ways to get from the airport to the city.

1 Airport Bus

Tourist shuttles are available from the airport and will take you to major tourist attractions and hotels.

It takes about 30 minutes to get to the Gold Coast city, so make sure you have enough time to get there.

2 Express Bus + Tram

Take the express bus number 777 to Broadbeach South.

You can then take the streetcar to Surfers Paradise.

The trip by bus and streetcar takes an average of 40 minutes.

3 Taxis

There is a cab stand in the arrival hall of the airport.

The Gold Coast Cab is a fixed fare, so you can use a cab with no worries.

It is $65 one way.
