3 Bad Restaurants in Kaohsiung

Kaohsiung bad restaurant

1 Yonghe Xiao Long Bao

This xiao lung bao restaurant is about a five-minute walk from Yanchengpu Station.

There are fewer xiaolongbao restaurants in Kaohsiung than in Taipei, so I went there because it was highly rated.

However, contrary to the reputation, the food was not good at all…

The store is run by an elderly couple, and the woman’s attitude towards the customers was terrible.

They ignored my order and yelled at me to hurry up and order.

It was unacceptable that she would yell at a customer.

I was also disappointed to find that the large amount of parcels prepared tasted like frozen food, not homemade.

I hope you will not be fooled by the reviews.

Yonghe Xiaolongbao
  • Address: No. 35, Yancheng St, Yancheng District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan 803
  • Opening hours: 11:00 am – 7:30 pm

2 好好吃肉韓式烤肉吃到飽

This is a Korean restaurant about a three-minute walk from aozidi Station.

It is an all-you-can-eat restaurant, and the price is as low as 299 Taiwan dollars per person.

I was attracted by the low price and went there before, but I was not impressed by the price.

You can get all kinds of famous Korean dishes, but the food is of reasonable quality.

However, I think it is a good place to get a full stomach.

This restaurant offers a meat service if you give it a high rating on Google Maps.

This gives the restaurant a high rating, but if you expect too much, you will be disappointed.

好好吃肉韓式烤肉吃到飽
  • Address: No. 160, Bo’ai 2nd Rd, Zuoying District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan 813
  • Opening hours: 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily

3 鐵井家

鉄井家 焼き餃子
日式餐廳

鐵井家 is a Japanese restaurant about a 10-minute walk from Meilidao Station.

The restaurant’s signature dish is baked dumplings, and in the evening it becomes a pub.

I went there just because I wanted to try yakisoba and gyoza, but it was below my expectations.

The taste of the food was too light, perhaps because it was seasoned for Taiwanese people, and I did not enjoy it.

My personal thought is that the owner does not know the true taste of Japan, so I assume this is happening.

Speaking as a Japanese, I think that if the taste could be improved a bit, it would become more popular.

鐵井家
  • Address: No. 281, Zhongxiao 1st Rd, Xinxing District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan 800
  • Opening hours: 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily
  • Closed: Tuesdays

What are the three common characteristics of bad restaurants in Taiwan?

Taiwan bad restaurant

1 They are located in night markets.

In Taiwan’s night markets, you can find some rude people opening stores.

They are cheaters and sometimes use frozen food from around the corner to serve their food.

I actually tasted frozen food when I ate a small package at the famous Ruifeng Night Market in Kaohsiung.

I used to cook dumplings and small packages at home on a daily basis, so I can judge the taste.

They use a lot of Carrefour frozen food, so try buying some and see how it tastes.

That way, you will find something in common lol.

2 Bad service

One thing that all bad restaurants have in common is their customer service, don’t they?

If the service is not good, the food is not likely to be good either.

In Taiwan, there is not much of a custom of queuing up, but the restaurants that do have queues are often good.

Also, the service is very good and the food is often delicious.

This makes customer service one of the most important factors to judge.

3 Unusually high ratings

We have a lot of apprehension when we go to a restaurant for the first time, and fear failure.

In such cases, we refer to the restaurant’s rating, don’t we?

It can be dangerous to overestimate these ratings.

You can get caught up in the reality of the situation, such as the case of the Korean restaurant I mentioned earlier.

A restaurant that is not confident in its taste will want a reputation in exchange for its food service.

Since both the restaurant and the customer benefit, the rating will naturally be high, but in reality, some restaurants are not good.

Therefore, it is better not to believe in them too much.

Conclusion
